Following the Republican State Convention, multiple members of the State Executive Committee notified us that THEY would be presenting the Resolution to Abolish Abortion at the next Committee Meeting.
THEY who remained silent at Convention while We Stood Alone.
Not one was able to explain to us why they did not speak up on behalf of the Resolution before or during the Convention or why they were suddenly willing to champion it at a State Executive Committee Meeting where the vast majority of the grassroots and two of the three authors of the Resolution would have no voice.
In response, we sent a letter to Chairman Jason Simmons and the 600 plus members of the NCGOP State Executive Committee last week…
While many responded with complete understanding, some have suggested that they are “confused” as to why we would not entrust the Executive Committee with the Resolution and others have attempted to discredit our motives.
Normally, I do not respond to criticism or discrediting attempts because there are only 24 hours in a day.
However, because so many of you have reached out and asked for further clarification, I am offering it here.
For the purposes of this Substack, though we are like-minded, I speak only for myself and not for the other two authors of the Resolution—Larry Pittman and Cindy Sallis.
To begin, I am at a loss for how there could be “confusion” as to our motives.
Frankly, I believe this to be political theater.
As to the accusations that we (authors) don’t actually want to abolish abortion and only seek “personal glory” or “credit” and this is what motivates us to keep the “Resolution to Abolish Abortion” out of the hands of the State Executive Committee…
I will speak even more directly than we did in the letter…
We do NOT want the Resolution taken up by the same GOP leadership who intentionally shut down all debate—making sure that both Abolition and Medical Freedom were not heard at State Convention.
We do not wish for Abolition to be taken up by the State Executive Committee in an effort to PROTECT the Resolution —not kill it.
Trust has been broken.
The truth is—we have zero confidence that the “Resolution to Abolish Abortion” will not be gutted, amended, or inverted by the Executive Committee in the same manner that the State Resolutions Committee gutted, amended, and inverted the Medical Freedom Resolution (initially intentionally omitting ALL Pro-Life language) forcing us to fight to have the language restored via the “Minority Report.”
We do not wish for a repeat of the The Epic Battle for Medical Freedom with Abolition.
This has absolutely nothing to do with wanting credit or seeking personal glory.
Such an accusation would be laughable were it not so disgusting and disingenuous.
I have seen some of the posts by our “allies” on the State Executive Committee who have made very public statements about “bad timing”, “winning elections”, “risking the Supermajority”, and the necessity of compromising human life for political gain.
I have spoken to others in person.
You have made your position and your strategy crystal clear.
I have been involved with the North Carolina Republican Party and watched the NCGA Republican Supermajority long enough to understand fully that protecting innocent human life from conception to the grave and ending the practice of Children for Sale are not priority.
I have had a front row seat for four years as the North Carolina Republican Party and the NCGA Republican Supermajority have participated in Covid Theater, Tyranny, Unconstitutional Overreach, Vaccine Pimping, and most recently— attempts to permanently affirm and codify even the lie of the masks.
I fully understand the game—the silencing and the discrediting of those who would not compromise human freedom and the sanctity of human life.
I remain undeterred.
I remain motivated.
I remain motivated by Human life, transparency, and the high Holy calling to defend the unborn.
I remain motivated to protect the language of the Resolution (every single word) and to assure that it is not amended, gutted, or inverted and used with our names on it to justify exceptions to abortion or affirm it in any way.
The State Executive Committee could do just that if and when given the chance.
History can and often does repeat itself.
"Those who fail to learn from History are doomed to repeat it." -Edmund Burke, Winston Churchill, every History professor I ever had...
If the Resolution were to be taken up by the Committee, two of the three authors—myself and Larry Pittman—would have no voice as we are not Committee members.
We are drawing a line in the sand.
After four plus years of aggressive disregard for human life and human freedom…
After witnessing the debacle of the last two state conventions and the installment of Jason Simmons at the last Executive Committee Meeting (a triumph of top down politics over a legitimate vote by the body at a State Convention), to say that we have no confidence in GOP leadership or the NCGA Republican Supermajority or their desire to play by their own rules or elevate righteousness and morality over political expedience and winning elections is an understatement.
I won’t apologize for stating plainly what I have witnessed.
I cannot unsee the things I have seen.
I do not by any means wish to offend like-minded executive committee members, I simply happen to know you are outnumbered and will be out-voted or out-amended if the Resolution to Abolish Abortion goes before committee.
God forbid it be used (with our names on it) to affirm the killing of children in ANY form or any exception which I firmly believe would happen via amendments if presented at an Executive Committee Meeting.
North Carolina Republicans must remember that we hold the “Supermajority” in the NCGA and the power of the override.
North Carolina Republicans must remember that the same NCGA “Supermajority” who passed the “12 Weak Ban” (spelling intentional) sit on the State Executive Committee.
Did you know that the 2023 “12 Weak Ban” that was so wildly celebrated by North Carolina Republicans was a grotesque moral compromise that allows for 90% of abortions to continue and risks 100% of all unborn children as every unborn child has to make it through the first 12 weeks of gestation in order to be protected? Did you know it assumes EVERY abortion provider (murderer) tells the truth about the gestational age of the child being killed?
Did you know that under the “12 Weak Ban” unborn children in North Carolina are eligible for execution up to 20 weeks gestation if the mother claims “rape or incest” presuming EVERY mother and EVERY abortion provider (murderer) tells the complete truth about the circumstances of conception?
Did you know that under the “12 Weak Ban” children diagnosed with “life-limiting anomalies” can be murdered up to 24 weeks gestation? Did you know that it is up to the abortion provider (murderer) to determine what qualifies as a “life-limiting” anomaly?
This is Eugenics.
And our Republican Supermajority codified it.
Why weren’t we told the whole truth?
That it was really a 12, 20, 24 fuzzy math/fuzzy circumstances ban?
Is it because it is hard to rally pro-lifers to do a victory lap around the Capitol Building and get us to keep donating money to the cottage industry “Pro-Life” organizations with “wins” like this?
The reality is...there is no political will to abolish abortion in North Carolina.
Excuses are the currency of Republican Leadership.
“Abolition—even talk of abolition will cost us the elections.”
“Whether we like it or not, the majority of voters want to keep abortion legal in some form.”
“We didn’t like the compromise any more than you do, but it was a huge win to lower the killing age to 12 weeks.”
Well, 20 weeks depending…
I mean, 24 weeks depending…”
“Incrementalism works!”
Except it doesn’t.
God never blesses moral compromise or murder.
God never blesses Eugenics.
God judges such abominations.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” —Isaiah 5:20
Let’s talk FACTS instead of POLITICS…
90% of abortions occur before 12 weeks. (Still legal in NC…)
Another 1.5% of abortions are blamed on rape or incest. (Still legal in NC up to 20 weeks).
Yet another 1-3% of abortions are attributed to “fetal abnormality”. (Still legal in NC up to 24 weeks).
In the 51 years since Roe v. Wade and the 2 years since Dobbs, North Carolina has successfully eliminated somewhere between 5.5% and 7.5% of abortions.
Assuming we have eliminated the highest percent of 7.5—this means we are incrementally ending abortion at a rate of 0.147 per year.
100% of unborn children are still eligible for murder from the mountains to the sea.
92.5% - 94.5% of abortions are still happening under the “12 Weak Ban.”
This is progress?
You will forgive me if I will no longer accept the narrative.
You will forgive me if I see “Incrementalism” for what it is—political cover for those who will not act to protect babies, who benefit from compromise, and who sell evil as good to their constituents.
Until lambs become lions, the killing will continue.
Until lambs become lions, unborn children will be dissected and sold for body parts.
Until lambs become lions, the lie of “Incrementalism” will persist.
Until lambs become lions, the “Supermajority” will continue to make excuses.
Until lambs become lions, human freedom and human life will be sacrificed on the altar of political expedience and “winning elections.”
Until lambs become lions, nothing changes.
Post-Script:
I was recently asked…
"What do you want to do NOW?”
I didn’t have to think about it very long…
1. I would like to use the Medical Freedom Resolution and the Resolution to Abolish Abortion to educate Republicans about the intersection of medical freedom, abortion, and the Republican Party Platform and to end the practice of Children for Sale.
2. I would like to use the two resolutions and work with organizations that have a much larger footprint than 2 Citizen Moms to elevate the conversation and END abortion entirely in addition to the practice of selling children for body parts. (I have yet to identify those organizations.)
3. I would like to use the resolutions to teach and reclaim words and definitions. We have accepted false narratives (medical separation is NOT abortion, children ARE being sold for body parts, and they ARE being used in vaccines, medicines, and scientific experiments). We need to use our voices, our local Republican Party groups, and conservative grassroots organizations to reclaim definitions (truth).
4. I would like to stop compromising via “Incrementalism” and push abolition. We can no longer accept that the best we can do is to eliminate 5-7% of the killings. If we push for abolition knowing we do not have legislators/votes, then we will be able to identify who we need to replace. By compromising via “Incrementalism”, we not only enable 90 plus percent of all abortions to continue, we strip voters of the ability to identify elected officials who do NOT agree with or represent the platform.
5. I would like to do something radical—begin a meaningful ongoing conversation— teach and encourage productive, open, public debate. I would like for us to collectively acknowledge that “Incrementalism” has failed and that only by pursuing abolition (obedience) do we have any hope of ushering in The Age of Abolition (outcome).
6. I would like for you to consider this open invitation to Lee County…
All are welcome…
The struggling…
The Resolved…
The lambs destined to become lions…
The future is abolition.
See you there.
